How to Track Affiliate Links From Your Link in Bio

October 26, 2026

To track an affiliate link from your link in bio, you need two numbers for every link: how many people tapped it, and how much it earned. Clicks come from your link page. Earnings come from the affiliate network's report. The trick is a SubID, a small tag added to each link so the network's report says which link each sale came from.

Without that tag, you know you made $214 from Amazon last month but not whether it came from the blender in your bio or the one in your stories.

Why aren't clicks enough?

Clicks measure curiosity. A funny product gets tapped a lot and bought rarely. A boring, useful one might get a third of the clicks and most of the money. If you only look at clicks, you will move the wrong link to the top of your page.

What you want is earnings per link, and ideally earnings per click, so you can see which links deserve the best spot.

What is a SubID?

Most affiliate networks give every link a spare slot for your own label. It goes by different names: ascsubtag on Amazon Associates, subid on LTK, subId1 on Impact, afftrack on ShareASale, sid on CJ, u1 on Rakuten, clickref on Awin. Whatever you put there comes back in your earnings report next to each sale.

The label does not change where the visitor lands, what they pay, or who gets the commission. It is a note to yourself that the network carries along.

How do you set it up by hand?

  1. Give every link on your page its own short label, like bio-blender or bio-serum.
  2. Add it to the network's SubID parameter for that link.
  3. Keep a list of which label is which link.
  4. Each month, download the network's earnings report and add up sales by label.

It works, but it is tedious, and it breaks the moment you add a link and forget the label.

How does Briklyst do it?

On Briklyst you mark a link as an affiliate link and the tracking happens for you:

  • Every tap goes through a short tracked redirect, so clicks are counted per link.
  • On the networks listed above, Briklyst adds its own code to the network's spare SubID slot. It never overwrites a code you already set, and it does not change where the visitor lands or who gets paid.
  • Upload the earnings report from Amazon Associates, LTK, Impact, ShareASale, CJ, Rakuten or Awin, and the rows are matched back to individual links on your stats page.

Briklyst is completely free and never takes a cut of your commissions.

What should you do with the numbers?

  • Move your best earner to the top, even if it is not your most clicked.
  • Cut links that get clicks and never earn. They are taking taps from links that would.
  • Check earnings per click before a brand deal. It tells you what a placement on your page is actually worth, which is a useful number to know when someone asks your rate.

FAQ

Does adding a SubID change my commission?

No. The network reads the SubID as a label and reports it back. The commission rate, the cookie and who gets paid all stay the same.

What if a network is not on the list?

Clicks are still counted for every link. On other networks Briklyst only adds a generic subid when the link already looks like an affiliate link, and earnings matching from an uploaded report is only built for the networks listed above.

Do I still need to disclose affiliate links?

Yes. Tracking has nothing to do with disclosure. See do you need to disclose affiliate links in your link in bio.
